Meet Darah Skean

Therapist

Darah Skean (they/them), MA, LPC

Life can be unpredictable, exhausting, and present challenges we never thought we’d encounter. You deserve a non-judgmental space where you can drop your shoulders a bit and express yourself.

That’s where I come in. My journey in the field of counseling has been marked by a deep commitment to helping my clients find strength and resilience within themselves, fostering healing and personal transformation. I believe that if given the tools and insight we can begin to heal ourselves and in turn heal our relationships.

I commit to providing a supportive environment to listen to your concerns, explore your options, and become more grounded in who you are. Whether you're grappling with what seems like endless anxiety, managing the complexities of childhood trauma, or sorting through rigid beliefs of religion, my goal is to support you.

I enjoy working with the LGBTQ community, individuals who feel like misfits, and those who are ready to make changes in their lives but may not be sure where to start. I believe in the power of collaboration, that together we will set meaningful goals and work towards creating the changes you want in your life.

My counseling philosophy is a trauma-informed lens and person-centered, which emphasizes unconditional kindness towards ourselves and recognizes how mental health impacts both our minds and bodies. I am also a mixed media artist and aim to assist clients through the creative process of how we can heal ourselves through a wide range of modalities, not just talk therapy.

My creative approach to therapy sometimes incorporates music, dance, art, poetry, and other creative expressions that have historically healed our souls for centuries before psychotherapy. I speak from experience when I say that expression through creativity offers a tremendous opportunity to explore our own identities, release stressors, and access healing.

Outside of work, I spend most of my time exploring new places and experiences with my partner and chosen family. I enjoy hiking with my two rescue pups (Shylo and Otis) and being outdoors. I’m an avid reader, coffee snob, and thrifting connoisseur. I’m involved in the local LGTBQ community, and enjoy craft shows and supporting local small businesses.
